The day will start and end with a silent sitting and some chanting.
After the morning meditation, we will stay in silence until after lunch as a support for practice.
After breakfast, there will be time for daily life participation (chopping veg etc). Getting to feel our interconnectedness by preparing food for each other and taking care of this place of practice. For certain tasks the timing will be different - washing up after lunch or supper, for example will be after lunch or supper.
After this moment of daily life participation we will gather to share the mornings work - building simple wooden structures and creating a roof extension on the main meditation platform. Creating shelter for ourselves and future retreatants to come and meditate in the open air. Feeling into the blessings of service and the joys it can bring and maybe learning some new practical skills along the way... All levels of practical and meditative experience are welcome to come and join this dance - Ekuthuleni is a place where we can each explore our sense of limitation and find our creativity! This is also a time for awareness in connection with others & ourselves as we are in activity.
We will work together until lunch, have a break, the possibility of a guided meditation and then gather again for some more working meditation 3 - 5pm. This time won’t be held in silence so we explore how it is to stay present in activity and speech as well!
After this there will be space until supper and ending the day together with silent meditation.
